Why Birla MNC Fund Performing Best?

BSL MNC Fund invests in securities of multinational companies through a research based investment approach to achieve long term growth of capital with moderate levels of risk.

MNCs have Long-term focused Management e.g. Maggi Noodles was launched by Nestle more than 2 decades back and the brand has become so powerful that the category is known by the same name, and the company has extended the brand name to a range of food products. In the case of Maruti Suzuki, the company has created a Network of Dealers.... impossible for anyone to match in short span and very important for the success for any Auto Company.

MNC’s generally offer latest technology products, or products which are already successful in developed markets or in other words they offer products that are time tested and proven.

MNCs like Levers, Siemens, Bosch, ABB, Alfa Laval & Atlas Copco are trying to increase their stake through buy-back/open offer of shares at a substantially high premium to market price as they understand what returns India as a Country offers to them.

MNC companies are generally efficient users of capital & generally not leveraged, in fact they cash surplus in their books along with property holdings, (e.g. Bayer, which sold its Thane property to Kalpataru) hence markets willing to price them higher.

Due to exposure of scams since late 2010, companies that are perceived to have good corporate governance have also been getting priced favorably.

Multinational companies (MNCs) generally have strong parentage and global experience, backed by professional management.
Such synergies can help translate strengths into superior products & services, in turn commanding a higher market share, making these companies an automatic choice for long-term investment.

MNCs are expected to continue to do well for not only the Quality of Management but also for their strategy to preserve capitalgenerate good return ratios & buy backs/open offers with the intention to increase control which highlights their long term approach and commitment towards India.

Thus, in falling markets, MNC stocks are being supported by promoter buy-backs due to high conviction in the business, whereas in rising markets, the quality has been rewarded with higher PE multiples.

How to Calculate Capital Gain Tax ?

In this section we will learn how to calculate Cost Inflation Index & calculate Capital Gain Tax.

COST INFLATION INDEX  TABLE -

1981-821001992-932232003-04446
1982-831091993-942442004-05480
1983-841161994-952592005-06497
1984-851251995-962812006-07519
1985-861331996-973052007-08551
1986-871401997-983312008-09582
1987-881501998-993512009-10632
1988-891611999-003892010-11711
1989-901722000-014062011-12785
1990-911822001-024262012-13852
1991-921992002-03447

Formula of Calculation Capital Gain Tax

Cost Inflation Index = ( Index for the year of Sale / Index for the year of purchase) *  Purchase Cost

For example,
My  A   purchase Property  in 10 Jan 01 for 15,24,000  and  sold  it on 15 Dec11 for 35,05,000

Find out Capital Gain ,  first calculate Cost Inflation Index

Cost Inflation Index  =  ( 2011-2012 Index / 2000-01 Index ) * Purchase Cost

                                =  ( 785/406) * 15,24,000

Index Cost of Property     =       29,46,650

Now calculate your Capital Gain

Capital Gain        =  Property Sale Price - Index cost of property
                           =  35,05,000 - 29,46,650

Capital Gain        = 5,58,350

Capital Gain Tax  = 20 %  of Rs. 5,58,350  ie. 1,11,670 ( +surcharge ,cess if applicable)

If you are invested   5.60  lakh in Capital Gain Bond , then your tax liability is Zero

Reliance SIP Insure Details

Reliance SIP Insure facility is an add on feature of life insurance cover under Group Term Insurance to individual investors opting for SIP in the designated schemes.
What is the Facility?

Reliance SIP Insure provides free life insurance cover to investors at no extra cost. In the unfortunate event of the demise of an investor during the tenure of the SIP, the insurance cover will take care of the unpaid installments.

Amount of Life Insurance Cover Available

The Life Insurance Cover under ‘SIP Insure’ facility will be enhanced as per the following clauses;

An amount equivalent to the aggregate balance of unpaid SIP installments, subject to a maximum of Rs.10 lakhs per investor across all schemes / plans and folios will be invested in the Nominee’s account.

The amount of life insurance cover shall be invested in the Nominee’s account in the same scheme under which the deceased investor has enrolled for SIP Insure at the applicable price based on the closing NAV on the date on which the cheque for insurance claim settlement is received by the AMC from the insurance company, subject to completion of requisite procedure for transmission of units in favour of the nominee.

Reliance SIP Insure – How does this work?
·         An investor does a monthly SIP of Rs.10,000 for 5 years in Reliance Growth Fund
·         If he dies after a period of 3 yrs, then his Sum Assured= Unpaid SIP installments= 2 yrs ( 5 yrs-3 yrs) X 12 months X 10, 000 = Rs 2,40,000

This amount will be paid by Life Insurance Company to SIP investors nominee account with Reliance Mutual Fund and will be invested in Reliance Growth Fund (in the same scheme in which the deceased has earlier invested)
The insurance cover shall cease upon occurrence of any of the following:
·         At the end of mandated Reliance SIP Insure tenure. i.e., upon completion of payment of all the monthly installments as registered or till attaining 55 years of age whichever is earlier.
·         Discontinuation of SIP installments midway by the investor i.e., before completing the opted SIP tenure /installments or till attaining 55 years of age, whichever is earlier
·         Redemption / switch-out of units purchased under Reliance SIP Insure before completion of the mandated SIP tenure / installments or till attaining 55 years of age, whichever is earlier
·         In case of default in payment of two consecutive monthly SIP installments or four separate occasions of such defaults during the tenure of the SIP duration chosen or till attaining 55 years of age, whichever is earlier
Note -There is no provision for revival of insurance cover, once the insurance cover ceases as stated above

Load Structure

·         There will an Exit Load of 2%, if the accumulated units acquired or allotted under Reliance SIP Insure are redeemed or switched out or the SIP Insure is discontinued or it is defaulted before the maturity of committed SIP Insure tenure or before completion of 55yrs of age whichever is earlier as opted in the respective scheme either by the SIP-Insure unit holder or by the nominee, as the case may be.

Know about Life Insurance policy Surrender Value?

What is Surrender value?

It is the amount the policyholder will get from the life insurance company if he decides to exit the policy before maturity.
This is the value which is the amount payable to you should you decide to discontinue the policy and encash the same from insurance company.
As per a recent Insurance and Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) directive, life insurance companies have been asked not to levy surrender charges if the policyholder chooses to terminate the cover after five years.
Therefore retention of earlier policies and continuation of all policies without allowing them to lapse is the best strategy for continuing life insurance protection
A regular premium policy acquires surrender value after the policyholder has paid the premiums continuously for three years. After three years, you do not wish to continue with the policy, you can convert it into a paid-up one, freezing your investments at that level. However, you need to make sure that you keep track of this policy till it matures.

 Surrender Value calculation

  • After 3 year you can surrender your policy means you are paying 3 year premium.
  • First year premium not paid back if you surrender your policy.
  •  minimum surrender value is 30% of total amount of premium paid excluding of first year premium paid & also extra premium  If your yearly premium is 10000 & pay 3 years = 30000 total premium pay your minimum surrender value 6000 ( 20000*30%)
